Some collaborations feel inevitable the moment you hear about them. The meeting of Melissa and London-based designer Susan Fang is one of those rare encounters where two creative worlds seem to recognise each other instantly.
Melissa has long been celebrated for transforming PVC into sculptural footwear that is playful, futuristic and unmistakably bold. Susan Fang has built a devoted following for garments that appear to bloom directly from nature. Her work often draws inspiration from petals, water droplets and the quiet poetry of the natural world.
When these two design languages meet, the result feels almost magical.
Now available, the Melissa x Susan Fang collaboration reimagines the brand’s signature silhouettes through Fang’s romantic and nature-inspired lens. Through sculptural detailing and floral motifs, familiar Melissa designs take on a softer and more dreamlike quality, as if the material itself has begun to blossom.
The collection unfolds through three key styles, each presented in a delicate palette of pastel tones.
The Melissa Luna Bloom introduces the collaboration with a romantic ballet flat adorned with intricate floral-inspired detailing. The design reflects Fang’s fascination with organic forms and gentle movement.
Meanwhile, the Melissa Possession Platform Sakura offers a fresh interpretation of Melissa’s iconic Possession silhouette. Elevated on a platform sole and accented with sculptural elements reminiscent of blooming petals, the shoe brings new dimension to one of the brand’s most recognisable styles.
Completing the trio is the Melissa Daphnis Ballerina, a refined flat that distills Fang’s modern femininity into a graceful and understated silhouette.
What makes the collaboration particularly compelling is the dialogue between material and imagination. Melissa’s distinctive PVC, long associated with playfulness and innovation, becomes the canvas for Fang’s poetic aesthetic. In her hands, plastic takes on an unexpected delicacy and transforms into forms that feel almost botanical.
